An engine fire inside a large piece of logging equipment brought nine Forest Grove firefighters out to a rural logging road Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire, on Nordgren Road, about three miles outside of Forest Grove at about 2:38 p.m. to find a large Link Belt 240LX log processor fully engulfed in flame.
Workers with Cross and Crown Incorporated, a Carlton-based logging company were moving the equipment when the operator noticed flames coming from the engine compartment.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames within 30 minutes but spent the next 90 minutes monitoring the scene to make sure that hot spots in the machine didn't reignite.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
