A pair of new exhibits are on display now through Sept. 11 at the Washington County Museum.
“Connections” explores the history of quilting in the 1930s and its parallels with the current resurgence of the art form.
Quilts, tools and sewing machines from the museum’s collection will be on display alongside pieces on loan from Westside Quilters Guild members.
Weekly quilting demonstrations are being held on Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. On July 24, quilts will be documented by the Oregon Quilt Project, www.oregonquiltproject.org.
“Dorothea Lange in Oregon,” a traveling exhibit, views the photographer’s work during the Great Depression. Lange’s efforts with a camera helped redefine the field of documentary photography.
Lange’s work was completed in the summer and fall of 1939 across the state. The exhibit was produced by the Oregon Cultural Heritage Commission and contains large framed photographic selections drawn from the Library of Congress.
The museum is located at 17677 NW Springville Road, near Portland Community College’s Rock Creek campus.
