Don’t call it Concours competition.
When a gaggle of hot rods pull up in front of the Forest Grove Senior Center building on Saturday morning, they’re not there to compete with the automania of Forest Grove’s Concours d’Elegance.
The idea is to give automotive fans who are in town for this Sunday’s big classic car show something fun to do before Concours.
“What we're hoping this will do if it's a success is to bring people to forest grove for the whole weekend,” said Catie Witherspoon, co-manager of the center (which recently changed its name to the Forest Grove Senior and Community Center).
Witherspoon said the car show, called Cruis’n The Grove, is part of a larger effort to draw folks who normally wouldn’t make it to the center in and show them a good time.
“We're trying to get people interested in the senior center all over again,” Witherspoon said. “We thought, what the heck, let's throw a car show out there.”
