My husband and I would like to thank Forest Grove Fire & Rescue for its assistance on Friday, Dec. 26.
Since I was not working that day, my husband drove my car since it is a 4-wheel-drive and he had to be at work at 4 a.m. at the Hillsboro Fred Meyer on the TV highway.
On 19th Avenue he had a flat tire, managed to get the car into the fire department's parking lot and caught the bus to work, planning to change the tire after work in the daylight.
Meanwhile, I called AAA and was told they would not even take our name for a service call unless we were stranded on the freeway.
I called the fire department to let them know that our car was in their lot and we would move it as soon as we could.
When Vic got off the bus at 4:30 pm after working three hours of overtime, he found that the firemen had taken off our bad tire, taken it to have another tire mounted on the wheel and then put it back on the car for us.
Needless to say my husband was very thankful and appreciative that he didn't have to repair the tire in the dark and the snow.
Our thanks to members of Forest Grove Fire & Rescue for their kindness and assistance.
