In the 10 years that I have resided at Hagg Lake I have never experienced the frustration that I experienced during a cycling event on Saturday, July 10.
It started out as any busy weekend in this recreational paradise that I call home. My children and I left our house at around 9:30 am. At the bottom of my driveway I patiently waited while some 20-30 bikers passed by.
I proceeded in the opposite direction of the bike race. Just past Nelson Road, I encountered a “Pilot Motorcycle” in my lane coming directly at me. I am pretty certain that no permit issued to this bicycling event allows this kind of behavior.
I proceeded with great caution around the blind corners expecting that it could get no worse.
Wow was I wrong!
I then came upon one lone bicycler right smack dab in the middle of the road. I gave him plenty of time to move out of the driving lane & into the bike lane. He did not move over, so I gave him one friendly toot of my horn.
